Word Processing
We use computers for so many purposes. In order to be effective and productive in our efforts, it is important to know about and understand how to use a various piece of software available.

Seamless Editing:
o move blocks of text around
o correct spelling mistakes and typos
o tighten up wording without having to retype the whole document etc.
o H2O ∏r2
Formatting:
o adding bullet points
o line spacing
o font type and size and format
o margins
o page numbering
o graphics etc.
Standard Documents:
o The use of templates allow for standard formats for documents such as business letters, proposals, marketing plans, resumes, etc.
The Cloud:
o While most word processors reside on the computer hard drive, they are gaining popularity as Web applications. Google docs is built around an online word processor that mimics the functionality of most consumer word processors.

- When personal computers first became popular in the mid-1980s, users realized they were better than a typewriter. J
- Primitive word processors--actually little more than text editors back then--were among the first programs to gain popularity among users. £
- With its editing capabilities, a word processor allows a writer to just sit down and write and not have to worry about it being perfect. Working in drafts becomes easier, because the writer doesn't have to type it each time. ∞
